More About Dr. Marty Dr. Belson completed medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1991 and completed Residency in Pediatrics and a Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta from 1991 - 1996. Dr. Belson practiced Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta from 1996 - 2000 followed by the completion of a combined fellowship in Medical Toxicology at Emory University, the Georgia Poison Control Center and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). From 2002 to the end of 2006, Dr. Belson worked for the National Center for Environmental Health at CDC as a Medical Toxicologist while maintaining consultation duties at the Georgia Poison Control Center and performing clinical hours at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. As of January 2007, Dr. Belson is practicing Pediatric Emergency Medicine again for Pediatric Emergency Medicine Associates, LLC at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. Dr. Belson’s research interest includes children’s emergencies and poisonings and children’s environmental health. He has authored many scientific papers and given numerous presentations at national scientific meetings and for hospitals and training facilities in the state of Georgia; topics have included such issues as drugs of abuse, drug screens for adolescents in the ER, acute poisonings, poison control centers, childhood injuries, childhood illnesses and environmental chemicals. Dr. Belson is a former president of the Greater Atlanta Pediatric Society and was selected to be included in the Best Doctors in America 2005-2006 database. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Medical Toxicology and the American Association of Clinical Toxicology Pediatric Interest Group.
