This section of the website will include various childhood health issues and medical and surgical emergencies that do not fit neatly into one of the other categories.

Some-threatening, and they can be treated at home or in the pediatrician’s office. However, it’s important for parents to learn how to recognize an illness or injury that requires emergency treatment and learn what to do to best care for their child in an emergency.

The material in this section, as with most, will focus on:

  1. the cause of the illness or condition (e.g., headache)
  2. signs of serious disease
  3. what questions the doctor may ask concerning the illness or condition
  4. how to prevent the condition, if possible
  5. how the illness or condition will be evaluated by your doctor
  6. the treatment for the illness or condition
  7. and when to contact your pediatrician
